About me
I’ve been an ER doctor for the last 27 years and I’ve seen how prevalent burnout is among physicians. When I experienced burnout, I initially tried to manage it on my own. Like many doctors, I was reluctant to reach out for help. This eventually lead to depression and in 2014 I knew I had to get help. I took a leave of absence from work and got the help I needed. Thankfully, I was able to return to work with a different outlook and I’ve been practicing Emergency Medicine ever since. There are some things I learned going through that process that I would like to pass on to other doctors who are experiencing burnout. The only thing I regret about reaching out for help is that I didn’t do it sooner.
If you are experiencing burnout, I know how you feel. I’ve been there. Burnout doesn’t have to be permanent. You don’t have to dread every shift. You don’t have to feel trapped in a job you dislike. We all trained too hard and too long and made way too many sacrifices along the way to be unhappy doing what we do. Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have or to schedule an appointment. I’d love to work with you.
